Media Make-up students at New College are preparing for their end of year show, taking place Thurs 6th June at 4:30pm & 7:30pm. The show this year has been heavily influenced by the box office hit ‘The Nutcracker and The Four Realms’ and is set to be a visually stunning evening, full of colour, glamour and unique creations.
Students have been preparing for the big day since April and will be working alongside Performing Arts and Dance students, who will model for the event. The audience can expect to see fantasy hair creations, stage make-up, costumes and props, as well as body painting techniques.
Media Make-up students of all levels across the department have been involved in putting the show together and each year group will exhibit a fantasy land which they have created. Level 2 Media Make-up students have collaborated with BTEC Level 3 Production Arts in order to create the props and scenery, and Level 4 HND Media Make-up learners will be exhibiting their final end of year exam work.
BTEC Year 1 will be showcasing ‘The Land of Amusements’, which will be themed make-up, fantasy hair, props and costumes. BTEC Year 2 learners will be focusing on looks inspired by ‘The Land of Flowers’, showing a full look incorporating fantasy hair, stage make-up, costume, props and body make-up.
HND Year 1 learners will be displaying their looks inspired by ‘The Land of Ice’ and HND Year 2 students will say their final goodbye, as they showcase looks inspired by ‘The Land of Sweets’.
Gemma Mulrooney Hair and Media Make-up Course Leader said: “We’re incredibly proud of the students and their commitment and dedication to making this show the best it can possibly be. It’s going to be a visually spectacular evening, showcasing our learners incredible work, from fantasy hair pieces, to body painting and costume designs.”
