New College will be having an emergency simulation event, which is set to take place on 5th November. The event will be a faculty collaboration, bringing a range of subject areas together, including Health and Social Care, Media Make-up, Performing Arts and Public Services.
The collaboration will be set around a road traffic accident scenario, with the scene of the incident cordoned off in the college car park. Public Services students will be at the scene performing the stop and search procedure, all while trying to pay close attention to preserving the scene of the crime and any important evidence.
Media Make-up students will be working on imitation cuts and bruises. These will be applied to Performing Arts students, who will be acting the parts of patients and those involved in the incident. A large room in the college will be set up as an accident and emergency centre, where patients will be assessed and treated by Health and Social Care students.
Andrea Howe, Health and Social Care Lecturer said: “This is a faculty collaboration, combining multi-disciplinary skills, within a set scenario around drug and drink driving. It will allow all of our students to practice the theory and skills they have gained within the classroom and use them in what will be like a real road traffic incident.”
