Students of Distinction salon at New College are preparing for their end of year show. The show this year is titled The Elements of Distinction, and preparations have been going on since February.
It will be a combined skills event of hair, make-up and costumes. The audience will have the opportunity to see the creative and technical skills that students have learnt and improved on throughout the year.
The big event is set to take place in the Phoenix Theatre on Thursday 13th June at 6:30pm, after the students have completed their final assessment during the daytime. Mood boards and research projects will be on display, showing the background work that went into creating final ideas and pieces of work.
Carrie-Anne Morgan, Academic Instructor - Beauty, Media Make-up, Complementary Therapies & Hairdressing, said: “Our students have been given a fantastic opportunity to showcase their skills as part of their final assessment. The criteria has been designed to challenge them and they have gone into this with great enthusiasm, they are all so excited! We have opened this event up to all students across the department and they are even getting involved in the stage preparations. There is a lot of build up to this, it’s a very significant day for our department and it will give our students the chance to really show friends and family what they are capable of.”
