Academy of Music and Sound

A great new partnership has been created between the Academy of Music & Sound in Swindon and New College.

The Academy of Music & Sound is a leading UK music performance training organisation which works in partnership with many FE Colleges & Universities, as well as leading music equipment manufacturers & retailers who endorse and sponsor its centres.

The Academy’s Swindon centre offers state of the art facilities for music performance and specialises in guitar, bass, drums and vocals (vocalists also study keyboards). Students receive instrument specific classes on both of the courses shown below, with tuition delivered by qualified and experienced teachers who are also practicing professional musicians.

Courses available

BTEC First Diploma Music (Level 2)

A performance course aimed at musicians and singers who have been playing their instrument for 1-2 years, perhaps without any formal tuition. This qualification is for those of you who can sing or play basic grooves or tunes by ear.

BTEC National Certificate/Diploma Music (Level 3)

This is a performance course with instrument-specific lessons that will greatly improve your techniques and your skills as a musician. This qualification is for those who have studied or played fairly intensely, those that can read music to a basic level, and those who play a variety of tunes to a competent standard. You could well be playing or rehearsing with a band already.
