Public and Emergency Services HND
“I chose to do an HND at New College because I wanted to continue enjoying my education with lecturers that I know can get the best out of me. It also gave me the chance to continue working with friends I had already made during my BTEC course. I knew the Public & Emergency Services HND would help me with entry into the Police Force and it’s also more affordable than other local options. I have really enjoyed my experience here and have learnt a lot whilst gaining some excellent qualifications. After completing the HND I would like to continue onto a third year and gain a full degree, ultimately with the goal of joining the Police Force.”
Health and Social Care HND
At sixteen she left school with no qualifications. Now, after five years with New College, she’s set to take University of Birmingham by storm. “I can’t explain how amazing the teachers have been, they motivate me in everything I do. They’ve always encouraged me to go further and made me believe in myself.”
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
"I wanted to develop my skills in all areas of art and build up my portfolio of work before attending university. I already attended New College and was told by other students how great the course was. I like the fact that this course is broad and covers so many areas such as Graphics, Textiles, Fine Art and Photography. The course has helped me to explore my creative ability and I have learnt a lot of new techniques and processes. The tutors are so knowledgeable and they push you to achieve your best in everything you do. I am going to University of the Arts London to study for a BA Honors Degree in Hair, Makeup and Prosthetics for Performance."
Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths)
"I was made redundant and had trouble finding work, so I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in engineering. I had just moved to the area and New College was local to me and some friends had recommended it. My Access course has been fantastic but also challenging. The teachers are very supportive and helpful. The facilities are great and I’m a regular user of the library. I plan to continue my studies at university."
Hair & Beauty, English, Maths
"I really like the fact that the Hair & Beauty course is hands-on. I think it’s easier to focus in your lessons at College and the teachers are very supportive."
Textiles NCFE, Cooking, GCSE Maths and English
"I enjoy making extraordinary things for my Textiles course. I look forward to every class and my teacher is warm and friendly. I really love being part of the College and it’s great to feel included in things."
Level 2 Apprenticeship
''I chose the apprenticeship route as it gives me the chance to gain qualifications whilst getting the hands-on experience in the IT office. An apprenticeship has helped my confidence grow and I have a much greater knowledge of IT with plenty more to learn. I have already achieved so much and I really enjoy the flexibility in my job as I have a good balance of work and study.''
COMPUTERISED ACCOUNTS SAGE 1
"After moving to the Swindon area I was finding it difficult to find a job. I used Flexible Learning courses to fill the time as I didn't want any gaps on my CV. The courses themselves are very easy to follow and I found the format convenient as you work at your own pace within the hours that suit you. It's nice to be able to study around your lifestyle and I'm happy to say that I have now found a job in finance."
NOVELTY CAKE DECORATING
"The camaraderie at the college was brilliant and it wasn't long before we were putting our skills into practice. Thanks to the techniques I learnt on this course I was able to decorate my daughter's wedding cake."
