There are plenty of chances to contribute to College life and get involved!
We think it’s really important for students to get involved in New College life, enjoy a varied social life and have a say on what matters. NC Ambassadors represent the College at voluntary and paid events internally and at local schools and exhibitions. They also act as the student voice on College committees and support charity fundraising. This is a great opportunity to develop skills in preparation for university and employment. NC Ambassadors are role models who go through an application and recruitment process. Compulsory training in Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity is provided.
Raising and Giving Money
Our students are very proactive when it comes to charity; fundraising money during national events such as Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sport Relief and at other times during the year. They also raise money for the College’s official charity, Prospect Hospice.
Charities supported in 2017/18 include Macmillan Cancer, Children in Need, Comic Relief, National Autistic Society and Brighter Futures.
Learn During Themed Weeks
These events run throughout the year, giving the opportunity to access information about initiatives and life skills from internal and external organisations over lunchtimes.
External Speakers and Visitors
Teaching and learning is enhanced by visits from external speakers and employers. Some of these are via the “Speakers 4 Schools” initiative (www.speakers4schools.org) whilst many others are from relevant employers, universities, former students and other organisations.
