Access to Higher Education Diploma
Give yourself a fresh start and get back into education with the Access to Higher Education Diploma.
Ideal for anyone needing the relevant level 3 qualifications to progress onto a degree-level course. Designed especially for mature students who have had a break from their studies (of 1 year or more), this qualification is generally accepted as an alternative to A-Levels and is combined with GCSEs.
What can I study?
We offer 4 Access pathways:
We also offer a distance learning option in Access to HE Health Professionals.
As this is a distance learning course, it’s perfect for you if you’ve been out of education for an extended period and have other time constraints. What’s more, you can begin working on your course from the moment of enrolment, whether that is in September or at any other point during the year. What does this mean? Within just six to 12 months, studying on-line and a time and place that suits, we'll prepare you for study at university as well as your journey to your new career. If you’re worried our fees will hold you back, this qualification is eligible for the Government’s Advanced Learner Loan. If you have any questions about this course specifically, contact Paula on 01793 732892 or email: email@example.com
Am I ready to return to study?
If you are worried about returning to education, don’t be - you are not alone! Your personal tutor will ease you into being a student and support you through the process. Access students are usually very supportive of each other and often work together through online forums.
We offer a FREE Study Skills course to help you get back into the ways of studying and learning again. After you apply, you will be invited to have an informal chat with our Access Co-ordinator or Liaison staff. Everything about the course will be explained to you and you will have the opportunity to tell us about your goals, plans and any fears you may have. Subject choices can usually be tailored to suit your career goals.
How long will I have to study each week?
A full-time Level 3 Access programme will usually entail four mornings at college per week. This needs to be matched with 3-4 hours per day personal study. Part-time options are available for some of the Access diplomas (contact us for further details - 0808 178 3871)
All students should have GCSE Maths or English Language grade A*-C. Minimum age is 19 years with at least a one year break from education.
If you don’t have the necessary qualifications to do an Access course consider our Preparation for Access course which will give you the necessary skills.
