Accounting AAT - (Certificate in Accounting)
FOUNDATION CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING
AAT are a worldwide organisation with more than 100,000 members and are established as the standard for accounting technicians.
The course is designed for those students who wish to enter into the accounting profession, and would prefer to study a more vocational route than the academic ‘A’ level route.
Those who are serious about progressing their accounting studies, and have successfully completed this course, can study for the AAT Diploma in Accounting.
5 GCSEs - grade A* - C/9-4 (including Grade 4 or C in Maths and English Language)

You will study the following five topics:
- Bookkeeping Transactions
- Bookkeeping Controls
- Elements of Costing
- Using Accounting Software
- Foundation Certificate in Accounting Synoptic Assessment
The work will be mainly teacher directed, and you will have the opportunity to complete lots of practice activities.
Work experience will be arranged through the College as part of your qualification.
Timings and Assessments
You will be assessed through 5 computer-based exams. This course will require a considerable amount of home study to supplement the lessons. In each examination you are required to achieve at least 70%.
This course runs for 34 weeks starting in September and is 5 hours per week.
Costs and Resources
This course is free to students aged 16-18 years.
You will be advised on the text books to purchase. Any exam retakes will also incur additional costs.
You will need basic study materials including a calculator.
