AAT are a worldwide organisation with more than 100,000 members and are established as the standard for accounting technicians.

Course Summary

This course is for students who have successfully completed the AAT Certificate in Accounting, and wish to pursue their vocational accounting studies.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting and 5 GCSEs – grade A* - C/9-4 (including Grade 4 /C in GCSE in Maths and English Language)

Course content

You will study the following 6 topics:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Management Accounting: Costing
  • Indirect tax
  • Ethics for Accountants
  • Spreadsheets for Accounting

The work will be mainly teacher directed, and you will have the opportunity to complete lots of practice activities.

Work Experience

Work experience will be arranged through the college as part of your qualification..

Timings and Assessments

You will be assessed by 5 computer-based exams. This course will expect you to put in considerable additional study outside of class in order to keep up with the course. Each examination requires you to achieve at least 70%.

This course runs for 34 weeks and is 10 hours per week.

Costs and Resources

This course is free to students aged 16-18 years

You will be advised on the textbooks to purchase. Any examination retakes will incur additional costs.

You will need basic study materials including a calculator.
