Parking information
New College Parking Policy
Car, cycle and motorcycle parking spaces are available to all on a first come basis. There is no personal right to park on site for any individuals over others. Disability Blue badge holders are welcome to use any marked disabled parking spaces provided an official Blue Badge is displayed for the duration. Everyone is expected to park with due consideration for others. The College makes all efforts to maximise the available parking.
Cycles
Hoops for securing nearly 200 bikes are sited between the Annex and the Sports Centre. Bike parking within a secure compound is available, you must still secure your bike within this – please register with Facilities and you will be given the digital lock code for access. Please ensure that you do not share this number with others or let anyone in behind you (thieves can be most assuming and clever). The secure number will be changed from time to time and you will be advised accordingly. Do NOT leave your cycle overnight as it will attract unwanted attention – if you must, then contact Facilities who may be able to secure it inside.
Motorcycles
Please park in an orderly manner in the allocated motorcycle area to the right of the main entrance. Do not park on hatched fire escape areas which must remain clear at all times.
Cars
Please park your vehicle with due consideration for others i.e. not obstructing others and not blocking roadways.
Please register your vehicle with Reception so that we may contact you if there is a problem such as lights left on.
Abuse of Disabled Parking Spaces
New College will enforce the law in relation to abuse of Disability Blue Badges – a blue badge must only be used when the specific individual for whom it was issued is present. Contravention of this is a criminal offence punishable by a fine of up to £1,000 and the badge may be withdrawn by the issuing authorities.
Visitors
Staff may book a specific car parking space for visitors via the staff portal / Facilities.
Exceptional Circumstances
In very rare circumstances (e.g. College events, bad weather, emergencies) parking capacity may become very limited or even unavailable. If this occurs, we reserve the right to close parts or all of the car park and turn vehicles away at the front gate. This will be communicated with as much notice as possible to staff and students via internal posters, Moodle and our facebook page. We will always strive to find alternative solutions for our staff and students such as Park and Ride where we can.
