New College Swindon. Best compaines award winner 2011.
What do we do?
New College implements a number of initiatives which have helped secure a place on this list. These initiatives have been in place for a number of years, and we are constantly looking at new ways to improve the college, both for our students and for our staff.
- Every employee is allocated a mentor when they start employment at the college
- New College has an on-site teacher training department, delivering 100% success rates since its inception in 2009
- The whole college supports local charity Prospect Hospice, and many events are held throughout the year to raise money.
- Staff regularly recommend other family members to join us and as a result we have many staff with several family members here.
- A quality team has been implemented, consisting of Advanced Practitioners that drive the quality of teaching and learning, supports new teaching staff and further develops the skills and expertise of all teachers, Learning Coaches share best practice across all curricular teams.
- The Governors are linked through a 'buddy' scheme to departments, where they are invited to attend meetings and generally offer advice and support throughout the year.
- An annual Staff Star Awards celebration is run, celebrating and rewarding the excellence of our staff.
