Adult & Community

Aged 19+ and want to return to study?

There are several ways you can do this:

Leisure Courses

We offer a full range of leisure courses that take place over evenings or weekends. These courses are a great way to try a new experience, meet new and like-minded people and most importantly, have some fun! From discovering your inner Picasso, striving for that perfect 10 in the foxtrot, knowing your Balti from your Bhuna or writing the next 'Pride & Prejudice', we've got something for all ages and interests.

A Levels, GCSEs and vocational qualification are no longer just reserved for young people, many adult learners are taking the positive step of working towards a new qualification, seeing it as a great way to improve career prospects, boost self-confidence and self-belief. Plus, with the new Advanced Learner Loan you can study now and pay later.

Study by Flexible Learning

New College also offers a number of courses via Flexible Learning.  If you haven’t studied this way before then it is an alternative to scheduled taught classes and is aimed at students who want regular study (2+ hrs p/w) but cannot commit to a specific programme.  Our courses cover a range of subjects but mostly focus on basic computing and software applications, click here to view the courses available. They are typically delivered by self-led study using the training materials provided.

You will be working in our friendly and relaxed learning space at New College, with qualified tutors on hand to give you help and guidance.  We are open weekdays from 9am through to 8:30pm on selected days and offer course starts throughout the year. Please call for more information on 01793 732882 or email

Daytime Infill

Any daytime course in our full-time prospectus is open to adults who are happy to study with our 16-18 year old students. Click here to view the our full-time courses. Apply for a daytime course.

Professional and Business Training Courses

Each year we hand-pick our most popular, successful and in-demand programmes to create a portfolio of courses, many of which are 'open access' and have regular start dates. Our qualifications are designed to help people to be more effective at work - now or in a future career.

Higher Education or Access courses

A great affordable alternative to university for those who want to stay local.  We have a range of degree-level programmes that allow you to fit study around your work and family life.  For those looking to bridge the gap between your current qualifications and a degree, the Access Diploma could be right for you.

Part-time Course Tutors Always Wanted

Leisure courses are short, fun courses that are run during the evening or weekend for adults to enjoy. We are looking for innovative ideas for people to try a new experience and enjoy.

If you have an unusual hobby or craft that you could pass on to other interested adults contact Carol Willis in our Adult and Community Education department with course title, a couple of lines explaining what it is you can deliver and your relevant qualifications.

We would prefer it if you had a teaching qualification but this is not always necessary.

Our part-time tutors are paid from £14.79 - £16.68 per hour plus holiday payment depending on experience.

Building Bridges Programme

This programme supports people across Swindon and Wiltshire who are facing significant challenges in being able to develop their skills, access education or move towards the world of work.  The programme is a partnership of local organisations who are experts at supporting people and giving them the skills and confidence they need to move forward. We work with people on a one-to-one basis to help them address the challenges and barriers they are facing and develop a personalised plan to help them achieve their goals at a pace they are comfortable with.
